Pumpkin Day at Grafton County |
On October 11, 2005, Children from the Woodsville Elementary School arrived, as they do every year, to partake in the "Pumpkin Pickin' Event".
Year this they got an extra super surprise! The first stop was the
piggery,
where a big ole' sow was tending to her many little piglets. Then, as
an extra extra treat, Farm Manager Donnie Kimball provided two hay wagons for
the kids, their teachers, parents and other
volunteers
to ride down to the field on. The roads were muddy from the last rains
and this was the perfect solution to the problem. It was highly
received by all.
After
loading everyone up on the wagon, we took off down to the Pumpkin Patch.
Commissioner Cryans and Commissioner Gabler,
as
well as Executive Director Julie Clough
,all rode in Donnie's Hay Wagon, straight on down to a splendidly colorful
patch of orange pumpkins, just waiting to be picked.
That's when the fun began!
The kids could take any pumpkin they
could
carry back and they did
their
best to get some great pumpkins.
What
a fun time for all!
