Pumpkin Day at the Farm 2006

Grafton County held it's Pumpkin Day on Monday, October 2, 2006 with over 300 local Elementary School Children attending.  This year's event began at the piggery and wouldn't you just know, a litter of 15 piglets were born the day before.  The children even got to hold the little piggies. Then the kids visited the cow barn to see all the calves.

From there it was onto the hay wagon which took them across the road to the pumpkin patch where they received apples and got to pick any pumpkin that they could carry.  Although it was a little chilly, the rain held off and the kids had a wonderful time.

We begin at the Pig Barn

Executive Director Julie Clough finds a little spotted pig and poses with Commissioner Cryans.

Who doesn't like piggies?

How many times does a person get to hold a baby pig?

And here's the tired but proud Mama.

This baby calve was just born in the moring and is getting her land legs.

Here is the baby's Mom.

Time for the Hay Ride.

Commissioner Cryans and Exec. Dir. Julie look like they're having fun!

We arrive at the Farm Stand and the kids get apples.

Then Pumpkin' Pickin' begins!

Time for a class picture.

Who's that guy in the middle??

Another class pic.

The Commissioners and Exec pose with a couple of helpers from Corrections.

Mr. Paronto was one of the Hay Wagon drivers.

This little one got her pumpkin and took a rest.

Some were sooooo big!

Some came in pairs.

Some are too big to hold!

Some had to be rolled away!

But what a fun day for all.

Puts a smile on your face.
