During
the FY06 budget process, Register of Deeds, Joel Dupuis requested that the
Commissioners add some money into the budget to have three very old and
distinctive maps restored. There was a small NH State Map circa 1850, A Map of
the World from 1834 and a
NH Township and Railroad
map from 1858.
The Commissioners agreed as well as the Delegation and the budget passed.
Since then, the maps were sent out and have again returned to the County with a
new facelift, beautified with a tastefully elegant and classic frame added.
Though no one is quite sure where the maps originally came from, they were
restored by:
Joseph J. Marotti Company Inc., Conservation Laboratory.
The maps can be seen hanging in the Commissioners Office beginning December. Hearty thanks to Joel Dupuis for recognizing the need to restore and preserve a bit of history for future generations.
